An aide is a paraprofessional placed in a classroom or one-on-one setting to support a student’s IEP or 504 plan. Instructional Aides support academic goals under the classroom teacher’s direction, Behavioral Support Aides support students working through a behavior plan, and Sensory Support Aides support students with sensory processing needs. All three aide types go through the same background screening and ongoing training before ever entering a classroom, and they remain under supervision for the duration of the placement.
How does Blue Horizons screen its aides?
Every aide is vetted through what we call the Blue Horizons Standard: DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting and reference checks before placement, structured onboarding, and ongoing retraining once in service, all under a multi-layer supervision model. Screening isn’t a one-time event — it continues through the aide’s placement.
What is the Quarterly Performance Review Program?
It’s the accountability layer behind every placement. Schedules, attendance, timesheets, and journals are tracked and reviewed on a quarterly cadence, giving schools and districts auditable performance data rather than just an assurance that an aide is doing well.

Every school and family is assigned a named single point of contact from our senior management team, backed by a 24-hour customer service center. You’re never routed through an anonymous call queue — the same person who knows your placement is the person who answers.
