Blue Horizons Aides is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures We Have Taken
Accessibility is not a one-time checklist for us — it’s an ongoing part of how this site is built and maintained. Specific measures currently in place include:
- A skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repeated navigation.
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements for keyboard navigation.
- Text and background color combinations tested to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
- A logical heading structure and readable line lengths for long-form content.
- Labeled form fields and accessible error messaging on our contact form.
- An on-page accessibility toolbar (the icon in the lower-left corner of every page) that lets visitors adjust text size, switch to a high-contrast display, enable a dyslexia-friendlier font, underline links, enlarge the cursor, reduce motion, and strengthen focus highlighting — independent of browser or device settings.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We periodically review the site against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria and correct issues as they’re identified. If you encounter a barrier while using this site, we want to know about it — please see the contact information below.
Compatibility
This site is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content on this site — particularly older documents or third-party embedded content — may not yet be fully accessible. We are working to address these gaps. If you experience difficulty with any specific page, let us know which page and what happened, and we will work to fix it.
